A friend and I went to the Roadkill Zip-Tie Drags this past Friday/Saturday in Norwalk, OH. It was a good time.

We arrived Friday just in time for heavy rain and thunderstorms, yielding a tent full of water leading to sleeping in the truck that night. Disappointingly, the Friday night activities of camp fires, smores, and screening episodes of Roadkill were all called off as the night went on. The rain did let up for an hour or so, though, which allowed some time to see a couple of the cars that weren’t under cover.

Saturday (the main day of the event) was much better, with a little drizzle in the morning clearing up to be a sunny enough day that, despite wearing a hat and sunscreen, I’m very sunburnt. My friend and I basically bumped into Dave Freiburger, Mike Finnegan, and Steve Dulcich getting breakfast at a concession stand and chatted for a bit.

Once the track was dried out, test & tune ran for a while, there was the “Fans vs F&F” where ten people registered for the test & tune ran against the guys in various Roadkill cars. Later in the day was the $3000 Hooptie shootout, which is what it sounds like - cars that were decided on by the crew and audience to be worth less than 3 grand seeing who was fastest.

That’s about it in a nutshell - there were of course autograph sessions between the main events (typically while the test and tune was running) and a generally cool collection of cars present. I didn’t take a ton of pictures, and what I did are on my 5+ year old phone, but here’s a glimpse of the 2017 Roadkill Zip-Tie Drags in Ohio. I have more if you’re looking for anything.

This was Friday’s weather

Pictures cannot do justice to just how stubby Stubby Bob actually is

Beat but solid underneath

Still my favorite

Some fans did a bit of a comparison

The Vettecart wasn’t running, it may have been related to the distributor being visibly full of water though the clear cap

Fans vs F&F - the Nascarlo (with a rapidly failing clutch) won by less than a second, but jumped the light

This very rotten ‘69 Chevy Van was around and even went down the strip a couple times. I like it.

This guy (who we ran into on Friday) ended up winning the $3000 hooptie challenge - chinese ebay turbo on a 6.0L truck LS, ran low 12s.

This was next to the autograph booth, which we never made it to while anyone was there (which is a bummer too because, amongst other things, they were signing cans of Brakleen!).

Roadkill has also just posted 500+ pictures to their website, including one which contains the back of my head while we attempted to get in the Impala, which had doors that no longer opened from outside by Saturday morning.

Very awesome! Especially that you got to meet the three! How were they in person? :)

They were cool, just normal people getting some breakfast. Dulcich is remarkably tall.
